Jake Muklewicz has practiced employment-based immigration and nationality law for more than seven years. He has handled E, H-1B, H-2B, H-3, L-1, TN, O, and P nonimmigrant visa petitions and labor certification applications under the traditional, Reduction In Recruitment (RIR) and PERM processes. Jake assists clients with adjustment of status and consular processing as well as naturalization and derivative citizenship applications. Jake researches and analyzes admissibility and other immigration issues; represents clients at interviews for permanent residence and naturalization before U.S. immigration officials; and works with employers in developing employment verification procedures and conducting internal I-9 audits to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. Jake has developed a specialty in physician immigration cases including J-1 Waiver and physician National Interest Waiver ("NIW").
Before joining Brelje and Associates PLC in April of 2005, Jake was an associate at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP in Columbus, Ohio. Jake devised immigration strategies for large businesses, including multi-national auto manufacturers and auto parts suppliers, apparel companies, financial institutions, and U.S. colleges and universities.
Jake received his J.D. from The Ohio State University College of Law. During law school, Jake was a Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellow in Russian and was the only law student in his graduating class to earn the Certificate in International Trade and Development. Jake also received a scholarship from the Polonia Foundation of Ohio for his academic achievements during law school. Jake received his B.A. in International Relations from Brigham Young University, where he was a University Scholarship recipient and Polish translator for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' general conferences.
Jake is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and is licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio.* Jake is also a member of the Arizona Division of the Polish American Congress, and has written articles on business immigration for EuroArizona.
Jake is fluent in Polish and Spanish. He is proficient in Russian. Jake utilizes his foreign language skills to help non-English speaking clients understand complex immigration issues and strategies.
